Uni Of Leics: Reflection on Social Media Learning 4

So it continues....

Unit 3 of this course has now enabled me to set up a Hootsuite account. Must admit I had never heard of this or any similar software applications like it before. But what a revelation this actually is!

https://hootsuite.com

I did not expect to be able to manage all my online content from one place, but this has enlightened me as to the possibilities, power & functionality of Hootsuite....I will certainly be using this regularly going forward. I have been somewhat concerned of the amount of time that having a presence on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blogs as well as emails, google+ etc etc would be over-demanding on my available spare time in between work, MBA studies, & actually having a life!

There seems to be loads more knowledge to discover here so I have added @dottotech onto my list of Twitter feeds to follow. Once I have familiarised myself further with the layout etc I will search Youtube for more useful videos etc & may even subscribe to Steve Dotto's presentations etc in the future.

I have now installed Hootsuite onto my smartphone too so I can review all sites easier & more efficiently when I am on the move as well.

My professional network in linkedIn has been enhanced since my last blog, & I am encouraged at the endorsements I have received from my connections, and have also contacted & endorsed others in their skill sets.

Finally I have also started to tag my blog posts to start to link like items together....things are steadily progressing!

Cheers
Brian

Here goes the virgin blogger!

They say there's a first time for everything....
never a truer word spoken.....Blogger

& you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

.....have to disagree there though as here is my very first attempt at the joys of the Blog. Must say I probably would never would have got here without the gentle prod of Elizabeth & Mireya in the MBA Online Networking Award at Uni Of Leicester, craftily making this part of the marking scheme in the course but there you have it.....I have indeed been dragged kicking & screaming (almost literally LOL) into the 21st century. A bit odd really that Blogs have never really grabbed my attention, as in most other areas of social media & technology generally I am usually up to speed or ahead of the game....just didn't find the time or inclination in between Uni, work, life etc to give it much attention!

Having now seen how relatively straightforward this is to set-up, I wish in a way I had been in the know to create such a blog at the beginning in particular of the MBA course as it would have been great to have an online record of the trials & tribulations of taking on such a major new learning experience part-time distance learning & fitting in around full-time work & family commitments etc.

Many thanks to all my fellow students on this award, in particular those who have already plunged into blog world & kindly posted links to these for novices like my good self to peruse, get a feel for, & encourage to crack on & get in there.

That's it for general intro & getting a first effort in the melee.....now to have a wee think about posting some interesting (hopefully) snippets shortly.....
